Dr Amal has over 17 years of experience serving various clinical, managerial, academic and research roles at multiple government and private institutions within UAE including; SKMC & Tawam Hospitals, the College of Medicine at the UAE University, Al Noor Hospital Group/Mediclinic Middle East, Moorfields Eye Hospital, & other various facilities and academic institutions. She is also the former Vice President of the American College of Health Care Executives (ACHE) – MENA. Dr. Amal obtained her PhD from the UAE University; Master of Business and Management from the University of Wollongong- Dubai; and her nursing degrees from Abu Dhabi institute of nursing and Sharjah University. She has a diploma in hematology and an advanced training in palliative and end-of-life care. She is a recognized subject matter expert, a trainer and a speaker at many national and international conferences. She is also a member in ASCO, ONS, POEM, SIOP and ACHE. In addition, she won various scholarship, research grants, and research awards. Dr Al Haddad also has multiple ongoing research projects and peer-reviewed publications.

Dr. Burbage is committed to advancing cancer care, improving patient outcomes, and mentoring the next generation of oncology nurses.

During this time, she progressed from staff nurse to charge nurse, and eventually to the role of clinical instructor. Following this, she served as Manager of the Oncology Clinic and Radiation Therapy Unit at American Hospital Dubai for three years. For the past five years, she have been the Nurse Manager at University Hospital Sharjah, concurrently serving as a Clinical Tutor at the University of Sharjah. She completed her Master’s degree in Nursing Education in 2015 and am currently pursuing a PhD in Nursing Leadership from Walden University.

He brings extensive expertise in oncology nursing, clinical research, and evidence-based practice, with a strong focus on improving patient outcomes and advancing cancer care. Khaled holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Oncology Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania. He has been an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) since 2009 and is also a Certified Clinical Research Professional through the Society of Clinical Research Associates. In addition, he serves as Chair of the SEHA SOCRA Chapter, supporting research excellence and professional development. He is the Chair of the SEHA Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice Committee, where he leads initiatives that promote the integration of research into clinical nursing practice. Khaled also serves as Vice President of the Emirates Oncology Hematology Nursing Society, contributing to the advancement of oncology and hematology nursing at a national level. Through his leadership and dedication, Khaled continues to strengthen the role of research-driven, patient-centered care within oncology nursing.

Khaled began his academic journey with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Jordan in Amman, establishing a strong clinical foundation. Driven by his passion for leadership and healthcare excellence, he advanced his studies in the United States, earning a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from the University of Atlanta. To further expand his expertise on an international scale, he recently completed a second master’s degree in Global Child Health from St. Jude Academy in the United States, solidifying his global vision and commitment to advancing Pediatric care worldwide. He actively participates in many Haemophilia -focused groups, taking on the role of Nurses Committee Member for the World Federation of Haemophilia (WFH), and General Secretary and Haemophilia Nurse at the United Arab Emirates Haemophilia Group. Khaled is also the Chairperson for the Nursing Care Working Group initiated by the Pediatric Oncology Eastern Mediterranean (POEM) Group, which aims to continuously improve Pediatric oncology care, research, training and advocacy in the eastern and Mediterranean region by means of integrated teamwork. Khaled a leadership consultant for the development of health services and medical personnel at the Arab Leadership and Foresight Agency which aims to improve health care in Low and Middle Income Countries (LMICs).

Mahmoud earned his Master of Science in healthcare management from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). He began his career as a registered nurse in in oncology and BMT services, quickly rising through the ranks due to his dedication, clinical expertise, and leadership skills. Mahmoud Led the oncology nursing services at Tawam Hospital as Assistant Director of Nursing. Throughout his career, Mahmoud has been instrumental in implementing patient-centred care models, improving nursing workflows, and enhancing patient safety protocols. He is known for his collaborative approach, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. At Al Dhafra Hospitals - SEHA, Mahmoud is responsible for strategic planning, policy development, and the overall management of nursing services. He is committed to nurturing a supportive and empowering environment for all nursing staff, promoting ongoing education, professional development, and evidence-based practice. Mahmoud participated in number of oncology nursing research such as improving oral chemotherapy compliance in Oncology Clinic, improving patient experience with Chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV), Tawam Experience and Assessing the Patient Education needs of Thalassemia Patients taking Iron chelating factors, Experience of Tawam hospital adult hematology/oncology department in the UAE.

Mehad has a special interest in pain and symptoms management, communication at end of life, advance care planning, family support and she is very dedicated to improving the quality of life for patients and their family throughout the palliative journey. In addition to clinical expertise, Mehad is actively engaged in policy making, advancing palliative care through education, training, and passionate about research and integrating best evidence-based practice in palliative care delivery.

Mr. Saleh is an Oncology Certified Nurse OCN with extensive clinical experience in oncology/hematology. After vast years of experience in nursing from a clinical educator, Nurse Manager and now being the Tawam Oncology Center Manager. He participates effectively in training and developing nursing staff. Mohammad has served as a Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Trainer since 2011 and was the first international trainer at the level of UAE. He was responsible for a variety of quality improvement initiatives and hospital quality measures such as central line associated blood stream infections (CLABSI), prevention of chemotherapy error, and improving the safe handling of hazardous drugs, and management of radiation therapy side effects based in the latest evidence based practice. Mohammad, actively participates in oncology service development and collaborate with others in setting the standards in cancer care and improve quality and cancer patient’s outcome through continuum of care, and customer services and be connected with local and international cancer centers.

She holds dual master's degrees: an Executive Master’s in Healthcare Administration (EMHCA) from Zayed University affiliated with University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in Adult-Gerontology Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist (AG-OCNS) from California State University Dominguez Hills. Tahani is nationally certified as an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN), Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP), Evidence-Based Practice Certified (EBP-C). She currently serves as the Director of Clinical Research [Interim] at City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center (California, USA), where she oversees high-complexity clinical trials, including early-phase, hematology research, and cellular therapy protocols. In addition, she served as the Clinical Research Nurse Manager for the Clinical Research Unit, leading interdisciplinary teams to optimize trial performance and promote research-integrated patient care. Tahani has held national and international leadership roles, including President of the Emirates Oncology Nursing Society (2016–2020) and the International Oncology Nursing Society Chapter (USA) (2012–2016). She is a Board Director for the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) California Chapter and an active member of ANA, SOCRA, and NACNS. As a published author, international speaker, and educator, she has contributed to several oncology publications and educational initiatives worldwide. In 2023, she was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Emirates Oncology Nursing Society (EONS) for her impactful contributions to cancer nursing and clinical research. These formats will help raise your profile within the scientific community, opening doors to future opportunities, and career advancement.

We encourage our colleagues from around the world to take part and join our list of speakers by contributing an abstract to within the oral and poster presentation sessions.

Guidelines for submitting an abstract :

A special criterion for accepting abstracts will be their topic as well as structure, content and degree of innovation. The scientific committee will accept abstracts based on their relevance and quality, structure, content and degree of innovation.

Please note that a maximum of 300 words is permitted. The titles and the names of the authors are excluded from this number and have to be entered separately. Tables should not be included in the abstract body.
Methods section should include type of statistical analysis done if applicable to the study.
Statements like “Results will be discussed” are not acceptable and may lead to a rejection of the abstract.
